FSR Smart Wall Ball Strike Target System

FSR thin-film pressure sensors are embedded into the target surface to automatically detect ball impacts, count hits and capture strike positions. This solution is suitable for HYROX training gyms and intelligent scoring systems for competitions

System Overview of FSR Wall Ball Target System

System Overview

The FSR smart wall ball target system is developed based on the standard HYROX dual-height wall ball target, with FSR thin-film pressure sensor arrays integrated on the back of the target panel. The system can automatically identify valid medicine ball hits, count strikes, and collect impact positions and relative impact force data. Traditional HYROX wall ball training relies on manual visual judgment to verify valid hits, which easily leads to missed judgments, false judgments and low statistics efficiency. This sensing solution automatically quantifies wall ball training data and supports visual display of hit heatmaps. It is suitable for professional HYROX training gyms, physical fitness centers and intelligent scoring systems at competition venues.

How does it work?

FSR (Force Sensing Resistor) features high resistance under no load. Its resistance drops when external impact force is applied and recovers quickly after force removal.

  1. When a medicine ball strikes the target, impact force transfers to the FSR array attached to the back of the panel.
  2. The corresponding FSR units change resistance, and the divider circuit converts resistance variation into analog voltage signals.
  3. The main MCU collects multi-channel signals, applies filtering and threshold algorithms. Only impacts within the defined target zones and above the preset force threshold are recognized as valid hits to eliminate false triggers from vibration or light contact.
  4. The system increments the hit counter and logs impact force, coordinates and timestamp. Data is sent via harness/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi to a tablet, PC or local screen for real-time visualization of hit count and heatmap.
  5. After impact, FSR returns to high-resistance state and waits for the next strike.

What are concluded in the system?
